American bakeries range from wholesale operations that supply restaurants to neighborhood shops that sell bread, pastries, cookies and cakes over the counter, and many of them also pour coffee. Bagel shops boil and bake on site and sell out of favorite flavors by late morning; donut shops open before dawn and are often family-run; patisseries and cake studios take custom orders for weddings and birthdays and usually need one to two weeks' notice. Ice cream parlors, gelato shops and frozen yogurt bars are seasonal in the northern states and year-round in the South and on the West Coast. Prices are posted per item, by the dozen or by the pound, and most shops now take cards and mobile payment.

Ventura is in California, on the West Coast, where the climate ranges from foggy coast to hot inland valleys, wildfire season can affect air quality in late summer, and traffic is the main thing to plan around. US addresses list the street number and name, then the city, state abbreviation and ZIP code, and Ventura follows the same pattern; a suite or apartment number such as Ste 200 refers to a unit inside the building. The map link on this page shows the exact spot.

Ali at Sugar Lab Cake Studio was absolutely incredible! She made the most beautiful wedding cake for us and completely nailed our inspiration photo. And on top of looking stunning, the cake was DELICIOUS! It was the perfect combination of beautiful and delicious, which isn’t always easy to find. Ali was also such a pleasure to work with throughout the entire process. We would absolutely recommend her to anyone looking for an amazing wedding cake! 🤍🎂✨

Ali at Sugar Lab Bake Shop was such a wonderful part of my daughter's wedding yesterday. From the very beginning, she was warm, kind, and genuinely lovely to work with -- exactly the kind of person you hope to have around during such an important event. She created the most beautiful three-tier cake for us with delicate pearl details and softly textured rustic tiers that fit the wedding perfectly. It looked stunning, but what everyone kept talking about was how good it tasted. We chose different flavor combinations for each tier, and every single one was incredibly moist, flavorful, and delicious. For anyone debating between a cake and a dessert table, Ali does both beautifully -- but there's something so special about having a gorgeous cake as part of the celebration. Ours became such a focal point of the reception, and the cake cutting ended up being one of the sweetest, most heartfelt moments of the evening. I'm so glad we chose to include one. Ali also handled delivery and placement flawlessly, which made the whole process feel easy and stress-free. We couldn't have been happier with our choice and are so grateful for the care and talent she brought to the day.

We took a sugar cookie decorating class and had a blast! Ali is a great instructor and answers all your questions. We liked it so much that we were inspired to buy all the ingredients and see if we could do it on our own. We would definitely take another class. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!

We are beyond thrilled with the wedding cake from Sugar Lab Bake Shop! They executed our vision perfectly and made the entire process so easy and enjoyable. One of the highlights was being able to taste all the different flavors before making our decision – it was such a fun experience, and we loved having the option to choose from a variety of delicious options. For our wedding, we had a small cake for the couple and a sheet cake for the guests, and both turned out amazing! Not only did it look beautiful, but it was also incredibly tasty, and our guests couldn’t stop talking about how delicious it was. Sugar Lab Bake Shop truly brought our cake vision to life, and we couldn’t be happier with how it turned out. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a stunning and delicious wedding cake!
